A Taste of Mexico in the Heart of Manchester: Inside the Ocasa Launch
Elevate Magazine was thrilled to receive an official invitation to the launch of Ocasa, the newly revamped venue bringing bold Latin flavour and a whole new energy to the heart of Spinningfields, Manchester. Naturally, we sent our hospitality expert to experience it first-hand — and it did not disappoint.
Our Review:
From the moment you arrive, Ocasa instantly transports you — with a strong sense of Moroccan elegance, vibrant décor, and signature fire pits glowing at the entrance, it’s like stepping into an exotic escape. While the setting oozes style, there’s also a warmth and magic in the air that makes the space feel intimate and inviting.
We were welcomed at the door and led through to the stunning terrace, where plush cushions and soft textures created a luxe, laid-back vibe. Inside, the atmosphere was buzzing — thanks in no small part to the contemporary DJ spinning the perfect rooftop soundtrack.
Then came the margaritas — and wow. Served over ice in beautifully chunky glassware, each one was a flavour bomb. The coconut & chilli margarita (infused with tequila, of course) was a personal favourite, but the clear apple margarita and the “Claro” were equally divine. Each cocktail was expertly balanced and bold in character.
Canapés soon followed, offering a punch of flavour and just the right amount of spice. The standout? The Birria Beef Croquetas — rich, juicy, and absolutely packed with taste. A must-try.

As the evening progressed, time truly slipped away. Ocasa is one of those venues where early evening blends seamlessly into late night. With great drinks, delicious food, and the kind of music that makes you want to dance, it’s an experience you simply don’t want to end. From 8pm onwards, the energy kicked up a notch with a live saxophonist joining the DJ for an electric set that really brought the party to life.
We were also invited downstairs for a sneak peek at the newly transformed Australasia. Complete with a piano bar and ambient lighting, the space feels like a stylish subterranean retreat. As the website puts it:
“For fifteen years, Australasia has been more than a restaurant, it has been a destination… A subterranean escape beneath Manchester’s streets, where flavours from across the Pacific Rim meet refined dining in an effortlessly stylish setting.”
Ocasa, meanwhile, is already setting the tone for unforgettable events. It’s ideal for private hire — from intimate gatherings to full-scale takeovers — and, as the website says:
“Looking for a venue that brings the energy, the flavour, and the atmosphere? Welcome to OCASA. Whether it’s a birthday that deserves a little extra tequila, a corporate event that refuses to be boring, or a celebration that turns into an all-night fiesta, we know how to throw a party.”
With vibrant interiors, Mexican-inspired feasts, and cocktails that pack a punch, Ocasa is Manchester’s new go-to for unforgettable nights.
Huge thanks to Sophie Gwillam for the invite and congratulations to Christian Coates and the entire team on such a successful launch.
